The brand's collection was named "Astroemeria" and combines see-through and satin fabrics, faux leather and suede with floral prints — inspired by a specific flower — in vibrant and earthy colors.

According to Greek mythology, there was a goddess who created the world holding a spindle. The cylindrical tool of this goddess, Ananke, became the symbol of a Greek clothing brand that brings affordable luxury to our everyday attire.

The Ananke brand appeared in early 2017 and was created by two generations of women who want to offer something new to the fashion world. Katerina Bertzeletou, along with her mother, Christina Markou, had previously been involved in clothing, as the former worked as a model while the latter studied fashion design.

They are usually inspired by past decades, "by eras when luxury was a concept intertwined with the daily life of women, as well as by memories of a trip, by the lyrics of a song, by a painting."

The "Astroemeria" collection

Their inspiration for Fall and Winter ’18–’19 came from a special flower, from which the "Astroemeria" collection also took its name. The floral print they use is identified with the romantic mood and retro aesthetic that characterizes the brand. At the same time, however, "the simple and modern lines of our clothes create the balance we seek as a result. On the one hand, in this collection, one will see ethereal see-through and satin fabrics and vibrant colors that have been combined with darker, faux leather and suede."

The combination that results from the pieces of the latest Ananke collection is also what the two women behind the brand suggest. "In addition to total monochromatic or total printed outfits that we really like, we also suggest an alternative combination by mixing textures. That's why usually most of the clothes in the collection can be comfortably worn for a good occasion but also for a more everyday look."

Identity and presence

In its two years of presence, Ananke is found in selected stores and has its own e-shop. "It has managed to be loved by the public and what they often tell us is that they recognize our clothes before they see the label. This, after all, is our goal, to have an identity and a specific character, something that doesn't require effort since what comes out in our collections is simply ourselves, feelings, dreams, and images that inspire us daily much more than fashion trends that we usually don't follow."
